This year, Stitch's B*tches were lucky enough to be invited as guest judges to this year's Discarded to Divine, an event that helps raise money for the homeless and disadvantaged in San Francisco by asking local designers to create refashioned garments. Recycling, charity, AND fashion? How could we say no?!? We attended the silent auction and fashion show this past Saturday, and we wanted to share some of the incredible designs that were on display.
This was one of my faves when we were judging...it was made from a leather bomber jacket and wool skirt. Just look at that leather panel in front of the skirt and the leather piping. Drool!
This was an incredible piece by one of the guest designers...made from women's pantyhose! It reminded me a lot of Christian from Project Runway's feather dress.
I actually bid on--and won--this dress for $60! It's hard to see in the photo, but the bottom of the dress was very torn and tattered, in a way that mimicked the pattern on the bodice of the dress. It reminded me very much of early Commes de Garcon.
Finally, Rabbit Ridge was serving a new product at the event, wine in a box! Someone had cut up a number of the boxes and created dresses from them. They were cool!
