teeny tiny fold-up shopping tote! (sponsored by bernina)

14 April 2008

Like most refashionistas out there, we try to do our part to recycle, eliminate waste, and reduce consumption. But sometimes, despite our best intentions, we don't remember to bring our reusable totebag to the grocery store. We solved this problem by creating a very memorable reusable shopping tote, made from a recycled tank top! As an added bonus, it folds up super small to fit in your purse so you will always have it with you. Extra credit for the environment!

Many thanks to Bernina for helping spread the sewing gospel!

The idea for creating a bag out of tee-tank was first published on my site at http://www.fashion-incubator.com/mt/archives/reusable_bag_contest_1.html . It was popular and all the indies picked up on it; obviously dilution ensued. Being old fashioned, I think it’s important to make attribution. The originator of this tee tote idea is Abigail Vargas designer and owner of Popylarity. Her entry in my reusable bag contest was posted over a year ago.

OMG, I loved this tutorial and I have a similar wrinkle free vintage tank top to try this with! Oh, the other option is nice too, but different, I may just have to give both a try and keep you all posted!
